Another broken mast heel!

Postby Dave Seaman » Thu Jun 14, 2018 4:32 pm

Yes, another casualty. The pivot has come adrift from the body in the usual manner. Looking through older posting on here, it seems very difficult/almost impossible to source a replacement.

But just in case - does anybody on this forum have a mast heel surplus to requirement?

Best regards,

The answer could be to have a tabernacle made. One of the advantages of that is it makes much easier to lower the mast!

We bought our boat with a broken mast heel and couldn't find a replacement so I fixed it using a block of aluminium cut with a hacksaw & filed into shape to fit into the remaining heal attached with a small bolt. It has worked well for a few years now so worth a thought if it is beyond welding.
